Prices are in rupees, per business, plus GST — the number on the card is the number you would be charged. Every ticked line is in the app today, and free today; there is no paywall in the app at all yet. Lines marked Not built yet are on the roadmap and are not in the app today. We list them because you should know what you would be paying for — not as a promise you can use it tomorrow.
Four things we will never charge you for
Written down here so you can hold us to it. These hold whether you are on the free plan, on a paid plan, or on a paid plan you stopped paying for.
- Your sales history, your customer book, your catalogue — always readable, always exportable, including after a paid plan lapses.
- Recording a sale and sharing the bill. This is the reason the app exists; charging for it would be charging you to do your own work.
- Chasing money people owe you. Khata reminders are free forever — charging a shopkeeper to get paid is not a business model we want.
- The number of bills, customers or items. We will never cap the merchants who are succeeding with us and teach them to under-record.
And how would you take the money?
Fair question, and one most pricing pages dodge. Nothing here happens before 2027 — but you should know the answer before you trust us with the shop's record, not after.
How would I pay, when the time comes?
By UPI — one approval in the UPI app already on your phone, the same way you approve any mandate. No credit card, no card details typed into anything, no bank visit. If you would rather not sign a mandate at all, you will be able to pay a year at once by scanning a QR. Either way it happens on lekhita.com in your browser — never as a purchase inside the app. We will take your money the way you already move money.
Could a charge appear without me knowing?
No. You will get a message a full day before any debit, on WhatsApp and in the app, saying the amount and the date. A surprise debit in a shopkeeper's account is not a billing event, it is a betrayal, and we would rather lose the payment than cause one.
What if the payment fails one month?
Nothing dramatic. Full access for a week while you sort it out, and if it still has not gone through, the app goes read-only — you can still open everything, read everything and export everything. We do not delete your data and we do not lock you out of your own ledger. Ever.
Pricing FAQ
Is it really free? What is the catch?
There is no catch and there is no card. Every feature is free while Lekhita is in early access — no trial clock counting down, no cap on bills or customers, and no moment where the app locks and asks for money. The prices on this page are what paid plans will cost when they arrive; nothing is charged today.
What happens when paid plans launch?
Free stays free, and it stays this size — the list above is the free plan, not a teaser for it. If you signed up before paid plans launched you are a founding member: the founding price on your row stays yours for as long as you stay on that plan, even after the public price rises. If your shop never outgrows Starter, you will never see a bill from us.
What if I stop paying later?
You keep your data and you keep being able to take it out. Your bills, your khata and your customer list stay readable and exportable to CSV, permanently. We will never lock a shopkeeper out of her own ledger to collect a subscription — that is the one thing a business app can do that is unforgivable.
Do you take commission on my sales?
No. 0%. UPI money goes from your customer's phone straight to your bank account — Lekhita is never in the settlement path and cannot take a cut even if it wanted to. The flip side of that, said plainly: because we are not in the path, the app cannot see a UPI payment arrive. You mark the bill paid yourself.
Why is it free right now?
Because we have not earned the money yet. Lekhita is early — real shops are running on it and finding the parts that break. We would rather fix those with you than charge for an unfinished product. Paid plans come when the product has earned them, and the merchants who backed us first keep the founding price.
Do you support currencies other than rupees?
Not today. Lekhita is INR-first because it is built for Indian shops — amounts group in lakhs and crores, and the financial year runs April to March. Multi-currency is a long-term item with no committed date.
